It's official. This has been the best summer of my life. I told myself that my 20s were going to rock and I want to make sure that they do. I think I'm off to a good start. Here's why:
1. I spent nearly a month in Europe. Dublin, Paris and London. To list all that I saw and learned and experienced would take me forever. Let's just say I was a foreign correspondent. I saw the Queen of England. I saw Prince Harry and Prince William. I saw Paris from the top of the Eiffel Tower at night. I hung out in a pub which, let's be real, was a foreign experience for me and I loved it. I ate the most delicious food on planet Earth. And, all in all, had the time of my life.
2. No summer would be complete without the tradition of going to my grandparents cabin for Fourth of July weekend.
3. I spent nearly two weeks in Tennessee, my favorite place on Earth. Enough said.
4. And the reason why I'm currently excited: I went to the Jonas Brothers concert last night with one of my best friends Gwenie. And, let me tell you, it was amazing. I danced, badly I might add. I sang along to every song at the top of my lungs. I even made eye contact with Joe. Okay, okay enough already right? Three months ago I used to make fun of my college friends for liking them. Now I love them (read reasons why). Perhaps it's me trying to escape back to my childhood, or lack of certain childhood experiences: i.e., never going to any concerts. (I was never really into N'Sync or Backstreet Boys.) So maybe I started the 'boy band' obsession a little late? But I think the real reason is I can't stop being happy while listening to their music. It's just... fun. Right now, in this world (and at home), there's just a lot of crap. Stressful, unfun crap (for lack of a better word). And when I listen to the Jonas Brothers I can be my silly self by dancing and singing at the top of my lungs. I've even got my parents liking their music. Yesterday I stood in the heat to watch Kevin, Nick and Joe play kickball and I went to their concert. Floor seats. Row 16. Seat One. Right by the stage. I drove home listening and dancing to their music with Gwenie, ears ringing and sounding like I was high on helium. 24 hours later and my ears continue to ring, as if the thousands of fans were screaming in my ears. But guess what? It was so worth it.
I've never heard the Jonas Brothers.. but I enjoyed your post and pics anyway haha
ReplyDeleteI have to say I love your blog. I like this summer reflection post because I plan to write a similar one soon. And I went to Dublin too in June! Wasn't it amazing?! :)
