"What's so special about this Bella girl? Edward is really whipped." -Damon Salvatore

I can't explain to you the excitement I had when I received this month's Nylon magazine in the mail. I'm Nylon obsessed and rely on my monthly dose of inspiration from it's artistic, funky pages. Featured on the February cover are the stars of The Vampire Diaries, one of my TV obsessions. When I first saw the show, I fell in love with Paul Wesley's character, Stefan. But I couldn't put my finger on where I'd seen him before. Don't you love IMDB when those moments occur? Duh! He was the guy who brought a gun to a party in the first season of The O.C., nearly killing Orange County's popular water polo player Luke. How could I forget that, right? And Nina Dobrev I recognized in an instant from the years of watching Degrassi on The N. Which, by the way, is a fantastic show.

Now I must admit, when I first saw The Vampire Diaries commercials on the CW, before the pilot aired, I was skeptical. Another Twilight, right? No. Far from it, in my opinion. For instance, it's way, WAY better. I'm a huge fan of the Twilight books. But the films? Not so much, aside from Taylor Lautner's abs. Call me shallow. Anyway, I decided to purchase the free Vampire Diaries off iTunes when it first aired and let me just say: Nina Dobrev pwns Kristen Stewart. And Ian Somerhalder's character, Damon? All I can say is Chuck Bass: out. Damon Salvatore: in.

For those who have yet to see the Vampire Diaries or are a bit skeptical like I was, I dare you to watch the pilot. ★

Q: What shows are you obsessed with?

  1. Ooh, I have to admit I tend to steer clear of vampire shows easily dismissing it as just the "latest trend", but I might have to give this a go :)

I tend to watch more Asian TV shows with crazy plots and angsty drama moments, for American shows, I'm more of the Criminal Minds/CSI/NCIS type of gal.

  2. amen, sister! i totally agree. the vampire diaries is, to me, a little more mature and a little edgier than twilight. and not so cheesy. and honestly, ian somerhalder makes the show for me. he is SO GOOD as damon, it's unreal. he's perfect. i have a giant crush on ian and even though he plays a villain i can't help but love him. ;) i adore this show! so glad it's back from the holiday break! :)

  5. Yeah, when I saw the commercials for The Vampire Diaries I figured it would just be a stupid rip-off of Twilight. But I guess I should give it a shot and maybe I'll enjoy it! But haha that's so true, Taylor Lautner's abs are pretty much the best part about the movies ;D

  6. Okay, so I've TRIED to watch this show, I really have. But there's something I just flat out don't like about it. Not that I liked the Twilight movies more (really, why is Edward so obsessed with Bella? Kristen Stewart is just such a bland actress). These guys are definitely cute, but...I don't know. Can't quite put my finger on it yet.

  8. You've made me even more excited about this show! It starts in the UK in the next few weeks and I've been looking forward to it for a while.

I'm also currently obsessed with Mad Men, True Blood, 24 season 8 and The Simpsons (oldie but a goodie!). So much great TV around right now!

  10. Hi! I'm glad I just found this blog. So far, I'm not disappointed ;D
Now that you mention it, I do remember him from the O.C! *breaks into theme song* Ian was also in the first season of Lost. I think that was the first time I saw him and thought he was a pretty, pretty boy. XD
I spent an entire summer watching four seasons of the OC. I nearly died. XD It became a guilty pleasure. Hahaha.

I'm not a fan of teen vampires much. I tried to watch Vampire Diaries, really. But the acting was just........ not my cup of tea >->
Nowadays, I'm trying desperately to finish That 70s Show. I didn't get to watch it when it aired, and since I watched a few episodes, I was hooked!
One show that is airing, though is Supernatural. I just love having hot-guy thursdays! Jensen Ackles is just too good to be true. Hahah.

Thanks for sharing this great post, lovely!

and, stefan has changed so much since his oc days!! i was watching the oc a few months back and saw him, i was completely shocked! he's all skinny and buffed up now.

oh wow. how long is this comment! sorry :p

ps. i used to get free online subscriptions to nylon (i may have won it through urban outfitters, last year) but i think it has expired :(

  17. ooh, i'm so sceptical of this show! i used to be a huge twilight fan but i've sort of gotten over it, and now i question anything to do with vampires. #

the only program i've really been 100% into is skins (season 4 starts tonight, i can't wait!)... and my boyfriend and i are getting through season one of gossip girl which we both really enjoy.

  18. I've seen a couple episodes but I just don't like the show. I'm not a fan of Twilight either. I've seen the movies, read the books, but I'm not impressed. Harry Potter will always be number.

Chuck Bass is never out, lol. He's amazing. I love love love him.

Anyways, I didn't realise that guy was on the OC, but now that you mention it, wow, he was.

I love the girl's outfit. I love the leather mini look.

  23. I too have never watched it but I just may now that you've made it sound amazing.

I have just finished watching all of Scrubs and have started with Friends. But That 70's show, Invader Zim and Glee are high on my list. A strange combination I suppose, but that is me :)

    Have a lovely day x

And I love the polka dots :)
