i want to be eloise

Eloise Doll

She is not yet pretty but she is already a Person.

Queen Victoria would recognize her as an equal

it's me, eloise
my eloise doll i purchased at an antique store months ago

i want to run through the halls,
and skip from door to door.
a crayon in hand, a shade of pink
from the ceiling to the floor.

i’ll scribble and scribble
to my heart’s content,
like eloise at the plaza hotel.

and i’ll talk, talk, talk
to whoever i want,
just to feel like a child again.

  11. NO WAYYYYY! SO CRAZY.

I had to read this book a million times this summer to my baby cousin. It was so long, so we would read a few pages each day, finish it.. and then read it again!

Lovely poem; definitely captures the innocence and enthusiasm of childhood.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  14. I love love love Eloise! It's kind of a joke between my friends and I, that I was a version of Eloise because I had lived in the New Yorker, another hotel in New York, for a few months at one point. But my life was not at all as magical as she made it!
