i ramble far too much

I can’t believe how quickly this decade has come and gone. I can remember 2000, when people thought the world was coming to an end, stocking up on canned foods and water bottles. I can remember New Years Eve 1999, watching Speed with my neighbors and hearing the fireworks go off so loud we thought it was someone pounding on our garage.

Looking back on the decade has me thinking how so much has changed. And how even the things I wish hadn’t changed, have only made me stronger in the process. This decade really has been one of growth and learning. So why am I so afraid of the coming year and the changes that are ahead of me?

I’ve lived in the same house my entire life and next year I will be out on my own, a college graduate searching for a ‘real, grown-up’ job in a state far away from my parents and everything I’ve been familiar with for the past 20 years. It’s not that I don’t want to leave. I do, more than anything. I’ll be near family (on my mom’s side) and will be rooming with one of my best friends in a place I’ve loved ever since I was a child. Tennessee has always been a happy place, with trees and grass. The fireflies at night. Playing in the creek. It just feels like... home.

But growing up is scary, despite the other voice in my head telling me anything is possible. I know what I want to do. I’d love to travel. Or be an event planner. Maybe move to New York or London one day. Do public relations in the music industry. Get involved in videography. Create. Design. Inspire. Write, write, write. Who knows what the future has in store for me.

Despite being fearful, I’m excited and hopeful for the coming new year. And this year I have two resolutions: Believe in myself and put my trust in God, two things that are often a struggle. ★

And as for The O.C. pictures, I posted these because no matter how much things change, some things will remain constant no matter what. Every year, I watch the first season of The O.C. & somehow, Seth Cohen's witty banter never gets old.

Happy New Year!
What are some of your resolutions?

  1. Happy new year!

  2. Ohh good luck dear ! I know you can :) Happy new year !

  3. I never make resolutions... I think it's not right to think a new year can change a live... the people can only change it on their own!

  4. hello, darling krissie; I can't believe how fast this decade has gone by, either.
I've gone and changed my blog name and URL, just to let you know ♥
    much love, olivia

  5. The OC is timeless, haha. I love your plans for the future.

  6. Remember: small steps... to reach your goals.

    Happy New Year. xoxo

  7. Wonderful post :)
Good luck with your "grown-up" life!
I think you have good resolutions.

I can't see the pictures cause they won't load T^T Oh well.

  8. Hello, Krissie!
I understand what you mean but that fear is natural. As well as some excitement at the same time. After all, is something you waited for a long time and something that is out of your confort zone. But I'm sure everything will be okay :)

Well, my resolutions? Wake up for life, trust more on myself and work harder for all the things I want :)

    Happy New Year!

  9. Don't be sacred of growing up, sugar, I'm sure you'll do it perfectly well.
I didn't have none until yesterday.
    - Study german properly instead of only going to the lessons and then forget that the lenguage exists until next one.
    - Save money to go back to the United States this summer.

  10. You have such cute blog,
and this is such a great post! :-)
and i hope you have a great start to 2010!
    Panda x
(oh, and thanks for the sweet comment!)

  11. Good luck with all of the new things coming your way! I'm sure you'll handle everything brilliantly! =)

At Disney I'll be working merchandise, which means I'll be in the stores selling the t-shirts, mugs, photo albums...any kind of souvenir! I adore retail so it's perfect!

  12. I remember I used to spend all my saturday afternoons watching the OC on the French TV when I was a Teen, I loved Marissa, Cohen... That's a real pleasure to see those pictures!

  13. In 2000 I was only 6, so I had no idea what was going on with the whole fear of the end of the world and all that! I just remember that I had glasses from school in the shape of 2000, with the two middle zero's being the eyes. Yep, pretty beast haha ;)

Things really have changed quite a lot, and growing up definitely is terrifying :P I certainly don't want to do it, at least.

    Well, happy new year!

  14. I lovelovelove The OC too!
It always makes me happy and smile and the show reminds me of the middle school summer when I discovered it!
This year I'm doing more goal setting rather than resolutions such as getting my drivers license, 4.0 gpa.....
Hope you have a happy New Year!

  15. I agree the OC is timeless. And I do have to say that a lot has changes in 10 years, but I do like the changes.

  16. i can't wait to read of your upcoming adventures in 2010.

have a safe and happy new year!

  17. Your header is stunning. And I agree about growing up being scary, I was so frightened when it was my birthday last tuesday, I felt 17 was so old! haha

  18. happy new year! to stop worrying that i will miss out on something better and just do what i can!

  19. I'm glad you're excited! And I agree about the OC :)

  20. Thanks for your verbal affirmation of the growing up and moving out feeling. I'll graduate in 3 months and be in that "find a big girl job" spot and I'm so not ready to face it. But I have been moved out of my parent's house for 4 years, so that has helped. Best of luck with that!

And Seth Cohen has a firm grip on a piece of my heart.

  21. "And this year I have two resolutions: Believe in myself and put my trust in God." ---Incredible.

I'm so excited for you to go on to Tennessee... it's going to be a life-changing experience in many ways. By the way, you can cross off 'inspire' from your list of what you want to do, because it's something you're already doing. :) You've got an amazing future ahead of you.. keep believing and trusting!
