Creations of an Insomniac

I can't seem to fall asleep, so I created these little collages on Polyvore. ★

The first is inspired by Marie Antoinette, dreaming about cuddling up on the couch while eating cake and being surrounded by pretty pastels. All while falling in love with Noah Calhoun or Tom Hansen (for about the millionth time), both of who- let me just say- I partially blame for my high expectations of men.

because i'm a hipster... NOT

I've decided to write about the silliest thing: my glasses. Thanks to Tumblr, Lookbook.nu and (admittedly) the Jonas Brothers, I've developed an obsession with hipster specs. For months I desperately searched for a pair. I stumbled upon what I thought to be perfect black-rimmed shades at Nordstrom, only to get laughed at by a friend when I tried them on. Needless to say, I made zero purchases that day. Since then, I've logged on to UO's website and ordered a suitable pair. And I eagerly waited for my 'readers' to arrive in the mail.

The glasses are larger than what I originally wanted. I have a small face, or so my mother tells me. But no matter. I absolutely love them, but no one else seems to approve. Father is continuously saying, "You're not going to wear those in the store are you?" Mother just laughs and shakes her head. Despite rolling eyes and laughter, I love 'em. And I've decided I'm going to wear what I want to wear, even if it means looking like a complete and utter dork. ★

Do you wear (or like) anything at the disapproval of your friends or family, readers?

Lookbook.nu

LOOKBOOK.nu:

I was going to post about my day with my best friend Gwenie, but decided to keep it short. Just know that part of the day was spent roaming the toy aisles at Target in search of a nerf gun. This was because Gwenie insisted on finding one after having a dream where she and Joe Jonas were discussing the importance of owning a nerf gun with several rounds, and not just the one shot. And we somewhat seriously considered purchasing walkie talkies after the discovery of what is known as Spyware.

That aside, I now have a Lookbook account. I do not consider myself fashionable and have really no business in having an account. Nonetheless, I have one. Mostly because I wanted to keep track of the outfits I adore, instead of reposting them to my Tumblr. And today I posted my first outfit (above), which I realize is far from spectacular and my pants are quite wrinkly. It's received four 'hypes,' which I must say even one hype would have made me happy. The more I look at it, the more ridiculous I think I look. Anywho, I've decided to post a few of the looks I like, if you don't mind. & if you have an account, I'd love for you to comment me the link. ★

What's in your closet?

wonderland

Today began with seeing Avatar. My initial thoughts were, "Oh boy, this is going to be lame." But au contraire. It was fantastic and I love, love, love Sam Worthington. Now I'm sitting in my room after watching Monday Night Football (which I absolutely love and jumped up and down when the Bears made a touchdown in overtime; I'm not a Bears fan, but the Vikings are the Cardinals closest competition; and the Cardinals are my team). Anywho...

U2 is playing through the speakers. I had an inkling to go rummaging through my closet. Boy, is it a mess. Clothes thrown about; with books, dvds and magazines piled on shelves. I decided to clean a bit, but had a desire to photograph my wardrobe instead, or part of it anyway. And it would appear all I wear is black, more for the fact that it's slimming, rather than being a dark person. & I have no idea why I own so many jackets. Coats that can only be worn a total of two full months throughout the year, I'm sure. This is Arizona, after all. Well here's rummaging in my closet:

my leather jacket

This is my most favorite jacket. Black and leather, I discovered it on sale past January at Dillards. It's hanging on a clothing rack my mother discovered in an antique store for $10. We spray painted it pink.

jackets galore

See what I mean? Jackets galore and all but one that isn't black. And I didn't even photograph them all; these are merely my favorite.

From left to right: Top row- Vera Wang peacoat, Kenzie silver jacket, bagatelle leather jacket, DKNY blazer, Forever 21 military jacket, H&M jacket Bottom row- Vera Wang jacket, Target Mossimo Jacket, Forever 21 French Terry Cropped Jacket, H&M silver dress

tops, scarves, and the like

These are just random bits of clothing I had lying around the floor of my closest. Have I mentioned I'm a mess?

From left to right: Vintage fur coat mom and I discovered at an antique shop, Gianni Bini royal blue tanktop, pink scarf I purchased in Paris, Express vest, blue scarf purchased at Anthropologie, Miley & Max chiffon ruffle blouse, white shawl I use as a scarf that once belonged to a dear old friend of mine and mothers who passed away several years ago, Honor Society concert tee, Forever 21 Love Runs Deep tee

jobro rolling stone bag

One of my favorite purses. Purchased at Walmart.

what's inside your purse

Deena & Ozzy Harness Satchel from Urban Outfitters, stuffed with Nylon magazine, Rayban sunshades, iPod touch, wallet, journal and other random items.

blair waldorf headband addiction

Part of my headband collection, mostly purchased at Forever 21.

shoes, bows and clutches

Hair clip, black clutches, Jessica Simpson sandals, Steve Madden boots, and my most beloved Nike shoes. Plain, dirty and nothing special. These shoes have walked the streets of Europe and Tennessee and have accompanied me to two concerts. On the bottom of the shoe, I write all the places they have been. They're my travel shoes and are as comfy as can be.

goodbye, beautiful ornaments

Oh & I just loved the colors of our ornaments as we packed them away. Another Christmas come and gone. Hooray for the coming new year! ★

Dress like a butterfly

I'm quickly posting this so I can get back to studying. But I came across this photograph on my Tumblr. This dress was designed by Luly Yang. and it's possibly one of the cutest dresses I've ever seen. Anyone else agree?

Miley Cyrus Collection

Today I bought three items of clothing at Wal*Mart. Yes, Wal*Mart. I don't think I've purchased any piece of clothing from Wally World since I was eight years old. But that was before a new clothing line launched today: Miley Cyrus & Max Azria. I hate to admit it, but I really like the new collection.
