Words are my favourite

I finally had time to go on Tumblr today, and came across the lovely Jessica from lafinparfaite. On her page are posted the prettiest quotes. I thought I'd share some here. ★

“Promise me you’ll always remember: you’re braver than you believe, and stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think." -Winnie the Pooh

"Everybody has a secret world inside of them. All of the people of the world, I mean everybody. No matter how dull and boring they are on the outside, inside them they’ve all got unimaginable, magnificent, wonderful, stupid, amazing worlds. Not just one world. Hundreds of them. Thousands maybe." - Neil Gaiman

The flood - E.H. Shepard, 1957
"So avoid using the word ‘very’ because it’s lazy. A man is not very tired, he is exhausted. Don’t use very sad, use morose. Language was invented for one reason, boys - to woo women - and, in that endeavor, laziness will not do. It also won’t do in your essays." -John Keating

"So many people are shut up tight inside themselves like boxes, yet they would open up, unfolding quite wonderfully, if only you were interested in them." -Sylvia Path

"When you look back on your life, it looks as though it were a plot, but when you are into it, it’s a mess: just one surprise after another. Then, later, you see it was perfect." -Arthur Schopenhauer

"Promise me you’ll never forget me because if I thought you would I’d never leave." -A. A. Milne

"Time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice, but for those who love, time is eternity." -Henry Van Dyke

"I tell you, the more I think, the more I feel there is nothing more truly artistic than to love people." -Vincent van Gogh

"Stop and appreciate what you have today. Look at what you have with wider eyes, maybe with more compassion and more gratitude for the things that you do have and not the things you don’t have." -Michael Imperioli

"The highest function of love is that it makes the loved one a unique and irreplaceable being." -Jitterbug Perfume

"Even if it meant that she had failed, she was glad. And if what she’d wanted had been impossible from the start, still there was a certain lonely comfort in the fact that she’d known it was impossible and had gone ahead and done it anyway." -The Little Friend

"Perhaps there is a language which is not made of words and everything in the world understands it. Perhaps there is a soul hidden in everything and it can always speak , without even making a sound, to another soul." -Sara Crewe

"Sometimes I’m terrified of my heart; of its constant hunger for whatever it is it wants. The way it stops and starts." -Edgar Allan Poe

"Kindness is the highest form of intelligence." -Wayne Teasdale

"I thank you God for this most amazing day, for the leaping greenly spirits of trees, and for the blue dream of sky and for everything which is natural, which is infinite, which is yes." -Edward Estlin Cummings

"I wonder how many people I’ve looked at all my life and never seen." -John Steinbeck

"Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude." -Denis Waitley

"She always had that about her, that look of otherness, of eyes that see things much too far, and of thoughts that wander off the edge of the world." -Joanne Harris
