I was enchanted to meet you

I can remember the first time I heard Taylor Swift on the radio. I was a 16-year-old in my first serious relationship. I was driving in my car on my way to my grandparent’s house. It was nighttime and I had an inkling to listen to country music. That’s when the lyrics “he says the way my blue eyes shine put those Georgia stars to shame that night” first played through my car speakers. And I suppose I’ve been a Taylor Swift fan ever since.

I own every Taylor Swift song there is to own, including her rap with T-Pain titled Thug Story. I swear I can relate to every song she’s ever written and that she had to have used parts of my life as source material. Well, not really. But I think it’s a bit ridiculous that I can even relate to a silly rap with the word thug in the title. As if I weren’t obsessed enough, I own all the sheet music to Fearless and I have Fifteen down nearly perfect on the piano. I’m quite proud, considering a year ago I couldn’t play a single note on my keyboard.

I guess my point is I’m a major Taylor Swift fan, no matter how many songs she writes about the middle Jonas. Despite many thinking her stardom is the result of Kanye’s insults. Despite her not always being the greatest vocalist. Taylor Swift is, regardless, a genius when it comes to writing pretty lyrics. & As someone who also has to have the last word, I actually love the fact that she has the courage to speak her mind no matter how much hate she receives in return. Which is why this Music Monday is dedicated to her newly released album, Speak Now.

Today I drove forty miles, across the Alabama/Tennessee line, to the nearest Target. All this just so I could purchase the Deluxe Edition of her new album. I've concluded that Sparks Fly, Enchanted and Haunted are my new favorites. Oh, and Better than Revenge. And Innocent. & Back to December. & I can definitely relate to the Never Grow Up lyrics at the moment. I'd say the whole album is pretty much terrific. ♥

Q: To Taylor fans, what do you think of the new album? To Taylor haters, instead tell me what musician can you totally relate to?

  1. Lovely music! I'm not a huge fan like you are, but I appreciate her music&lyrics

  2. I looove Taylor Swift, much to my dismay. I need to get the new album!

  3. The forty minute drive must have been much better on your return with the new album to keep you company. I enjoy the songs I've heard so far by Taylor Swift, but I only hear what's on the radio

  4. i think I have heard enough of her music to say her VOCALS are far greater than that of her competitions age group. Miley CYrus can barely sing and shes a global entertainer?? I love Taylor. I love her class, I love her lyrics simplicity that makes them so relateable. I love how naturally beautiful she is and how it doesn't even look like they put makeup on her.. I feel like I would like her as a friend if she had gone to highschool with me. I just.. I don't know. She's one awesome and intelligent blonde gal. :). THanks for the sneak peak because I havent heard any of her new cd..

  5. I'm so sad you have to drive that far to Target! I grew up in the Alabama country, but it's still only 25 minutes to the Target from there :[ Anyhoo, Taylor is definitely charming! I was thinking recently, wondering if she would regret writing all those songs about celebrity guys. But she is probably rich from it, so maybe not haha. Go Taylor!

  6. I'm not a huge Taylor Swift fan myself, but she definitely is so easy to relate to, and sweet and charming and all. So I definitely do have a place in my iPod for her, haha. :)

  7. i also love her music! it´s something different from all the other music which plays on the radio.
my favourite songs from her are "you belong with me", "love story" (the best ever...) and her new song... ehm... i guess it´s called "mine".
she has a very beautiful voice!
have a beautiful with taylor swift music filled week! ♥

  8. I adore Taylor Swift! Absolutely unashamedly, I think she's wonderful. Her lyrics have a depth & gravitas which is rarely, if ever, appreciated xx

  9. Hehe! I remember the first time I listened to Taylor Swift too! I accidentally downloaded "Stay Beautiful" by her instead on The Last Goodnight :P I was pretty much fell in love with her voice and downloaded all her songs XD

  10. I've been swamped with school, so I totally forgot about her new CD. I'm clearly not her biggest fan, but I am an adoring fan. I love every single one of her songs, minus "Thug Story" haha. And I agree, her songs, every lyric.. it sounds as if it were from a moment of my life. *sigh* She is the most sweetest thing ever! And I don't like a lot of country, but with her I quite like it.

  11. I can remember the first time I heard Taylor's 'Tim McGraw' on the radio too, in my car on the highway. I smiled reading your post because I related so much.
I love her new CD - especially Dear John for all the irony. Who hasn't wanted to be the one with the last word? "the girl in a dress wrote you this song"

  12. Taylor Swift is so adorable. I don't really listen to her music, but I really admire her fashion sense. I just saw her on TV in a red dress...beautiful!

PS Thanks for visiting my blog, yo.

  13. I love Taylor!
    my favorite right now.
