let the rain fall down and wake my dreams

Oh, what a week. My three day weekend has officially begun. School on Monday and Wednesday. Internship on Tuesday and Thursday. And now I'm waiting to see Avatar in 3D Imax. I'm excited, since it will be my first time seeing a movie in 3D and Imax. Plus, this movie is visually stunning.

While I wait the sky outside is going crazy. I half expect Dorothy's house to blow down on us all at any second. Dust is flying everywhere outside my window. Trees are trying to run scared. A tornado warning. In Arizona, tornadoes just don't exist. Period. Crazy weather, indeed. The sky is brown and people are driving slow on the streets. Slower than slow in fact. Because everyone knows in Arizona, people don't know how to drive in the rain. It's true.

Well this week, school was... school. I discovered I have four presentations this semester. Joy. I hate presentations. I'm one of those people. And I haven't been feeling as confident as usual. I really need to snap out of it. Pray for me? And don't you dread having to introduce yourself to a class? I do. One professor asked my first class, which has a total of seven people (all girls), random questions. Mine were:

A: The small details. [Teacher: Why?] Because the devil is in the details and if you miss the small details, I believe you ultimately miss the big picture.

I'm not really sure if it was an intelligent answer, but it was 8:35 in the morning. And I had slept in all break long. It was early, what can I say. Next question...

A: *Paused and thought for about a minute.* No. Way to go, Debbie Downer. [Teacher: Why?] "Okay, that was a dumb answer, of course I'm lucky. I'm not living in Haiti, for goodness sakes," I thought. So I continued... Well yes, I'm lucky to be where I am and things could be a lot worse.

I immediately wanted to slap myself in the face. Could you be more dumb, Krissie? Of course you're lucky! You have clean drinking water. A roof over your head. Healthy. In college, with a scholarship, so you're education is paid for. Both parents are still alive. Duh! You are lucky. ★

Anyway, how would you have answered the questions? I'm sure your responses are much more intelligent than mine. Happy weekend!

  5. I would've probably be stupefied at 8:35am to answer any questions! And I agree with your answer to the first question. It's really weird though that sometimes we take for granted all our "little comforts" and not realize how lucky we are.

  6. I really like the way you write. :)

I am lucky. I have everything that I need, and although there are many things that I still want, things I might never get, I have hope and belief that everyday has the potential for beauty. As long as I have this hope, I'm lucky. Things could be worse, I could have no hope, no vision of a better tomorrow.

Btw, you are lucky, I couldn't get into the Imax 3D session of Avatar. haha.

there have been tornadoes here in southern california! including one about ten minutes from my house, it started on the ocean and worked its way toward the beach and the pier... so crazy!

  9. Gorgeous photos! Pennsylvania is not a tornado kind of state either, but we've actually gotten them a few times I think. Scary!

I agree with your answers to the questions, and they sound quite intelligent to me. The little details are what make up the big picture, right? And yes, if we're able to even have a computer to be reading this, of course we're lucky.

Good luck with all of your presentations and driving in the rain!

  11. I actually think I'd have answered them exactly like you did! I despise being put on the spot like that. I also hate presentations and speaking to more than 3 people at once - my voice goes all quavery and weak! Ah well. It's a challenge and I'm sure you'll pull it off! :)

  13. BAHAHA. I'm totally with you, girl.

Introductions are possibly in the the top 5 awkward moments of my life. I always have the urge to start off with "um, I suck at introductions" but I never do.

Therefore, my answers wouldn't even be half as good either. ;) Love the photos!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

  17. Oof, four presentations? That's rough! And your answers in class weren't dumb, they're honest. No one can fault you for that.

  18. haha i hate introducing myself to the class too; i turn red from embarrassment.

those answers are pretty fine, plus i don't think anyone else really pays attention since everyone else must've been nervous too lol.

  20. Wow, I love your blog, your writing is captivating and the pictures are very pretty.

Your answers are way more intelligent than mine would've been. I highly dislike being put on the spot, let alone at that early in the morning.
