Where are you going & what do you wish?

Wynken, Blynken, and Nod one night
Sailed off in a wooden shoe---
Sailed on a river of crystal light,
Into a sea of dew.
"Where are you going, and what do you wish?"
The old moon asked the three.
"We have come to fish for the herring fish
That live in this beautiful sea;
Nets of silver and gold have we!"
Said Wynken,
Blynken,
And Nod.

The old moon laughed and sang a song,
As they rocked in the wooden shoe,
And the wind that sped them all night long
Ruffled the waves of dew.
The little stars were the herring fish
That lived in that beautiful sea---
"Now cast your nets wherever you wish---
Never afeard are we";
So cried the stars to the fishermen three:
Wynken,
Blynken,
And Nod.

All night long their nets they threw
To the stars in the twinkling foam---
Then down from the skies came the wooden shoe,
Bringing the fishermen home;
'T was all so pretty a sail it seemed
As if it could not be,
And some folks thought 't was a dream they 'd dreamed
Of sailing that beautiful sea---
But I shall name you the fishermen three:
Wynken,
Blynken,
And Nod.

Wynken and Blynken are two little eyes,
And Nod is a little head,
And the wooden shoe that sailed the skies
Is a wee one's trundle-bed.
So shut your eyes while mother sings
Of wonderful sights that be,
And you shall see the beautiful things
As you rock in the misty sea,
Where the old shoe rocked the fishermen three:
Wynken,
Blynken,
And Nod.

New York City dreamer

I used to dream of living in New York City one day. A nice flat. City lights. Busy streets. Then my dream changed to Tennessee. Green grass. Small town. Simple life. Then to D.C. Politics. Writing. And now? New York.

Lesretrouvailles

Two things I love about Lesretrouvailles' Photostream on Flickr: Chloe heels and Catherine's beautiful hair. I am envious of this gal's fashion and updo. I'm so bored with my curly hair and, in fact, am considering putting a temporary dye in my hair- a dark brown with hints of red. I've never actually dyed my hair before. Hmm...

I just can't get enough...

Today I was at Dillards trying on, what else, heels. The sales clerk kept insisting that I should model, and you know what? I just might not mind if I get to wear shoes such as these. And while I did not purchase a pair of heels today, I did buy a... leather jacket! I can not explain my excitement. I have been wanting a leather jacket all season. One that was trendy, classy and cute. And I found one for 80 bucks on sale {an original $300!}. I'll have to post pictures asap.

Heels: Killer weapons?

Just a quick update while I watch the History Channel {my most recent obsession, along with the Military Channel}. I'm so obsessed with what I call killer heels. Shoes that could literally be mistaken for a weapon. These are from the Jessica Simpson collection. To check out more killer heels visit these ladies: Fashion Toast, Jak and Jil and KARLA'S CLOSET.

Fashion Fix: The Devil Wears Prada

One of my top favorite movies with the the best of fashion. Anne Hathaway looked simply stunning {post-makeover} in The Devil Wears Prada. Listen to: Sleep by Azure Ray & Suddenly I See by KT Tunstall {from The Devil Wears Prada soundtrack}

America's Next Top Hairstyle

I tried to find a better photograph of Cycle 11 America's Next Top Model contestant Elina Ivanova. Before the makeover episode, she had dark, straight hair. After she had the most beautiful red hair I have ever seen. Episode after episode I always gushed about how amazing her hair looked. Seriously. So much, in fact, that months after the season finale, I'm still in love with her hair.

Princess diaries

I have weddings on the brain, which is odd since it's usually the farthest thing from my mind. I was watching Made of Honor tonight which then reminded me of Bride Wars. Anne Hathaway or Kate Hudson: I'm a Kate all the way. Why? Because I would choose Vera over my mother's wedding dress any day. If I am ever to one day wed, I've already decided the dress to be top priority. Back in 2007, I purchased The Knot Fall/Winter 2006-2007 issue and fell in love with a dress from the Kleinfeld Collection {pictures one and two}. Simple is just not for me.

Bare beauty

Growing up, I can remember putting on makeup for 'fun'. And for 19 years, I went without putting gunk on my face 99.9% of the time. But as of late, I find myself wearing Bare Escentuals. The girl who looked at makeup with a question mark has broken out of her shell. Although I'm still not convinced it's a good thing. Honestly, I sometimes think I look much better without eyeshadow, liner and mascara. Hmm... we shall see how long it lasts until I will choose to sleep in an extra five minutes rather than taking the time to 'beautify' myself. But I must say, there is no way I'm giving up my Buxom Lip Polish {it's far too lovely}.

Craig, Daniel Craig

Sure, he may be old enough to be my dad, but Daniel Craig is gorgeous. Plus, he has the most beautiful blue eyes. Anyone else agree?

Goodbye, Bush

Eight years of Bush have come and gone, and today America welcomes its 44th president: Barack Hussein Obama. They say it was one of the smoothest transitions of president to president in history. The world is in an economic crisis and now all eyes are turned to President Obama. I, for one, just want to thank George W. Bush for keeping our nation safe over the past seven years and for fighting terror. God Bless America!

Bum's the word

I collect magazines, articles, and the like. And I started a book with some of my favorite things featured in magazines such as Elle and Vogue. Including an article titled "Beautify your bum!", which sounds silly. But it's honestly one of the most hilarious articles I've ever read {Click on the first photograph and it should be large enough to read. Please enjoy}. These are just some pages I put together and thought I would share.

Defiance

I expected this movie to be good, and it was great. Daniel Craig did an amazing performance, as well as Liev Schrieber and Jamie Bell. The movie is based on the true story and I absolutely loved it. To watch the true story, a documentary titled "Jerusalem in the Woods", go to Youtube.

So much of the time we feel numb to the thought of war. When the fact is there are thousands of people fighting for us. Who see the terror, but fight to keep us safe and bring others hope and freeom. I love this movie because it's about a man who understood the value of life. It makes me admire the fact that they, ordinary humans, could save people from death under "impossible" circumstances.. Tuvia Bielski could have easily kept just his family alive in the woods, but he and others protected over a thousand people.

Supercross: Beautiful Day

It is impossible to explain the excitement of supercross. Every January (excluding Jan. 08) I go to Phoenix Supercross. It's quite possibly my favorite day of the year. It all started in 2001 when my family and I went to freestyle motocross. Then the following year we went to supercross. I came home obsessed. I wanted to be a rider, I watched the races on TV. I even had a bulletin board full of pictures of my favorite riders: McGrath, Carmichael, Reed, Stewart, Pastrana. At supercross you are surrounded by people who have a love for the sport. All of whom are decked out in skater hats, supercross gear, DC Shoes and Foxracing t-shirts.

I love the smell that hits me when I enter the building- a mixture of gas and what not (call me crazy). Entering the building is like entering a beehive. The riders are the bees and the bikes buzz together, making it impossible to hear anything. I get lost in watching the riders race around the track, while going over the triples and different jumps.

The opening ceremony is exciting. The lights go off, the music starts blaring, the green lights come on, the riders are introduced, the fireworks go off, the crowd cheers. Then it's qualifying time and the main event. And it's impossible to take your eyes off the battle between top riders Chad Reed and James "Bubba" Stewart. {Chad is my favorite}

Then there are the occasional gasps of the crowd as some riders wreck. The video above shows a wreck between Reed and Stewart the week before at Anaheim. Supercross is a magical time. This year was amazing. Stewart won, but Reed would have had him if only there would have been a few more laps left. I came home addicted to Monster Java and the song If I Could Be Like That by 3 Doors Down {it played on the screen throughout the day}. I love this sport.

Olsen streetwear

Messy hair. Big Black purses. Flipflops. Jeans. Leather jackets. Black sunglasses. Black boots. Scarves. Several years ago, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen were known for their unusual style. But I, for one, love their current style. Simple, yet cute. Their fashion lines are also impressive: Elizabeth and James; The Row.
